Happy, depressive electro-pop reflections between pubs and left-wing activism.

Thorben Kaiser, the jack-of-all-trades with rhyme skills and the courage to call out to the world without any protection, is ZackiBoy. For years he has been a fantastic and keen observer of certain bubbles that feed on copywriting, bar-going, left-wing activism, family issues, vinyl, friendship, and sadness and happiness. His reflections often result in musical vignettes – in catchy pieces that seem naive and funny at first glance, but at second glance describe depressive worlds, lostness and excessive demands on a secondary track.

We have known that this is a great art at least since Andreas Dorau (who can be heard on the track “Always honest”) or the band Schnipo Schranke, who unfortunately has already passed away. On his debut album SOFTY, Kaiser goes through what makes his personal life difficult and difficult in all its facets, and along the way gives us listeners useful and touching tips. In “Good Mood”, for example, the beautiful and annoying processes of his everyday life are listed and at the same time the struggle for positivity and the absolute will to be happy are described as sometimes exhausting.

In “Couples” it is said to describe the unnecessary stress in relationships: “What kind of bill is that, what is that package? Who did you talk to, did you have a tête-à-tête?”, and then, after the inevitable separation, express the relief of having gotten out of it all alive. Here, couples’ everyday life is processed so that the beams bend. Musically, SOFTY moves in the area of sparkling DIY pop with ambition and subtle humor. Great fun, but also a rush of melancholic feelings. Really great, really rich!
