Schrammeligen indie dreams like directly from the nineties, but with the lightness of the present.
So one cannot accuse Horsegirl: that the trio from Chicago would have no sense of humor. Accordingly, according to the band name, one wants to swing up on “Wheree’d you go”, the opener of their second album, and ride the sunset. However, not to be confused with the German technophenomenon Horsegiirl, clear.
On the one hand, the two musical projects could not be more different-Happy Hardcore and Weirdly sexy performance there, dream sweet indie rock with precise coming-of-age observations here-but one of them unites them: their very own charm. Horsegirl, i.e. the indicators from Chicago, whose debut version of Modern Performance 2022 became a critic: inner favorite.
After that, the three moved to New York. Not to live rock star life, but to study. Of course, they didn’t leave the music behind, luckily. Because Phonetics on and on manages to further develop your own DNA with a calm hand. Always a bit too tired postpunk (heartbreakingly beautiful on “in Twos”), after all, young is terribly exhausting. As a producer this time, Cate Le Bon, who gives the sound of the band airy lightness, otherwise leaves her DNA untouched. Girl out with guitars – terrific.
