A euphoric rock soundtrack for the fifth festival beer.
The biggest problem of around Waves is also her recipe for success, which is already clear in the open “American Dream”. We hear a driving beat there. Vocals that are first tender to seek the big “Woh-OH” gesture. And above all: guitars, with euphoria to the front steam rolling. It is music that fits perfectly on the festival stages of the world. Not necessarily for Primetime, but just before, let’s say: at 6 p.m. when warmers for the stereophonic or giant rooks and soundtrack for the fifth beer.
In this context, the Liverpoolers do their job very well on their sixth album. There is a nervous commemoration, the Class of 2005 comes to mind for songs such as “Like You Did Before” or “Bad Guys Always Win”. Elsewhere, for example in “Le Bateau”, the band plays with the New Wave of the early 1980s. And then there would be a new seriousness: singer Kieran Shudall was operated on in 2023. In “Wemade it”, quiet astonishment strikes that he has survived, “Blue Damselfy” also turns some of the rounds to his own finiteness. Suddenly, you have the feeling that he speaks not only to a festival stage, but also to yourself. You would have wanted more of these moments. Well, maybe yes on PT. 2.
