The British transforms her happiness in the rough Atlantic coast into cozy folk jazz.
An album like an oven (day) book: Anna B Savage has obviously fallen in love with an Irish in recent years and has moved to the northwest of the Green Island. “Donegal, please look after me”, asks the Englishwoman and raves about her lover: “You are my music / i’ll sing for us and write to album of you.” You & i are Earth transports nature, connection and homeliness.
Plucked acoustic guitar patterns flow and waves, washed up by delicate orchestrases. In the background the sea rushes, stringers squeak like seagulls. In addition, Savage’s voice, which murmurers warm and conspiracy from the loudspeaker, vulnerable, with a lot of classic artistry. No electronics or loud electric guitar, as they still appeared on their earlier works.
This makes you & i are Earth a very nice, but in the long run, very cozy folk jazz pleasure, whose lyrics also seem surprisingly traditional. Quote: “I know That’s my Light / and I know that He’ll Guide Me Home.” The album is strongly in the event of when Savage is the rough landscape on the Atlantic (“Donegal”) or a woman (“Agnes”) sings. Traut’s love luck does not always make the most exciting art.
