Recommendations of the Editorial team

After their shared success with “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt often appeared in public as a harmonious team. During the filming of the film, there was a violent clash between the star actor and the cult director.

Like Bruce Dern (plays the almost blind ranch owner George Spahn in the film) in one “People”interview, a surprising move by Pitt caused tension on the set. During a scene he simply stopped the camera himself. Basically, of course, Tarantino’s job and no one else’s.

You have to know that Bruce Dern is known for improvising wildly in scenes, which often surprised even his colleagues. In Hollywood this is also known as “Dernsie” (and that’s the name of a documentary that premiered at Cannes).

Brad Pitt simply stopped the camera

In the case of “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” Dern says, “When Brad Pitt wakes me up in a scene, I’m lying in bed, I get up, I’m still a little dazed, and I’m just babbling to myself, ‘I’m not really sure what’s going on here.’ I’m watching him [Pitt] and hear him simply stop the camera. The look on Quentin’s face was incredible – I mean, he was mad as hell – and he just said, ‘Brad, what did you just do?'”

Dern continued about the surprising moment: “He [Pitt] said, ‘Well, I stopped filming.’ And Tarantino responded: ‘You’re never going to stop a camera in your life or you’re dead in this business. That’s my area.’ Just don’t stop playing’. So we went ahead and shot the scene, and everything Brad to him [Tarantino] said, was, ‘Hey, what he said just wasn’t in the script.'”

The little fight for authority on set apparently didn’t cause any further problems. “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” was a huge success, particularly with critics but also with audiences, and won two Oscars – including one for set anarcho Brad Pitt (who also had a scene in the film changed).
