‘The return of a hero.’ Vincent Kompany (40) was back in Manchester for a while. At the farewell of Pep Guardiola (55), the Bayern Munich coach showed off one of the twenty trophies that City won under the Spaniard’s reign. And the former top defender was certainly not the only one.
Oasis singer and Man City fan Noel Gallagher, Erling Haaland, Vincent Kompany, Guardiola’s children, … For every trophy the Spanish coach won over the past ten seasons at Manchester City, there was a trophy bearer.
Kompany was allowed to carry and raise the Premier League cup from the 2017-18 season. As captain he won the title with Manchester City. Kompany won the Premier League four times with the English top club.
“The return of a hero,” said Manchester City’s social media. Kompany played a total of 360 games for the club. Kompany is now the success coach of Bayern Munich.
And so Guardiola’s children also came onto the stage. The Spaniard has two daughters – Maria (25) and Valentina (18) – and a son Marius (23).
In addition to Pep Guardiola’s farewell, Manchester City’s season was also extensively celebrated on Monday evening. The top club won the FA Cup and the League Cup. In the Premier League, City finished second behind champions Arsenal.
Players and staff rode through the city in an open bus. Guardiola thoroughly enjoyed it. With a beer in hand, the Spaniard let it all happen.

“I can’t be grateful enough,” said a visibly emotional Guardiola. “I will carry your fans in my heart forever.”
