In 2024, the police registered 880 cases of anti -Semitism, the same as the year before. This is apparent from new figures. The number of cases of anti -Semitism remained high within this. In 2024, the police registered 42 cases of violent anti -Semitism, by 40 in 2023. In 88 of the cases registered by the police, anti -Semitism was accompanied by threat, against 80 in 2023.

Eddo Verdoner, National Coordinator of Anti -Semitism (NCAB):

“Unfortunately, the number of reports remains high. The figures clearly show the dividing line: since Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the number of reports of anti -Semitism has increased enormously. That is the bitter reality. But we should never find them normally.”

Last year, the OM registered the discrimination -round anti -Semitism in 80 discrimination areas, compared to 122 facts in 2023. This decrease compared to 2023 is due to the high number of football affairs with anti -Semitic character in that year. Relatively speaking, many of the discriminals of anti -Semitism registered by the Public Prosecution Service have the basis. Of the total number of discriminals that the OM registered in 2024, 37% were anti -Semitism.

“While only 0.3% of the Dutch population is Jewish,” says Verdoner. “Jewish Dutch are thus over -represented as victims of discrimination.”

Internet discrimination and offline destruction

Verdoner mentions the increase in the number of reports of online anti -Semitism in 2024 seriously. Report.online discrimination received 136 reports of anti -Semitism, by 114 in 2023. That is 19% of the total number of reports to this reporting point.

“People bring more time through online and the chance is increasingly greater that they will be confronted with anti -Semitic expressions. Now that many social media companies have announced that they will start to moderate less strictly in 2025, this increase is very concerned. These companies now really have to take their responsibility to tackle anti -Semitism on their platforms.”

The number of anti -Semitic daunts and destruction rose from 58 in 2023 to 78 in 2024. The majority concerned anti -Semitic posters, stickers and graffiti.

“The increase in the number of destruction and durments indicates paving in our society,” says Verdoner. “People no longer talk, but pulls himself back angry in their own right. We have to break that.”

Packing chance up, focus on education and information

As far as Verzoner is concerned, the chance of being caught in anti -Semitism must be raised.

“People think twice if there is a good chance that they will be punished. For example, this is far too low,” Prevention and therefore education is of great importance. “Anti -Semitism and the Holocaust deserve more attention in the classroom and we have to ensure that those lessons are better up. Need a Holocaust survivor as a guest speaker. With your class, visit a museum or reminder center. Take care of the interaction, but never get the conversation about the Holocaust,” said Verdoner.

Jewish life as an antisemitism antisemitism

In addition, the NCAB argues for more attention for Jewish life.

“Jews are a small minority in the Netherlands. The chance that you encounter a Jewish person is small. And unknown makes unloved. Increasing knowledge about Jews is a counterpart to anti -Semitism.”

Implement measures from strategy quickly

The NCAB insists on the implementation of the strategy of the fight against anti-Semitism 2024-2030. A number of measures from this strategy have already been initiated. Verdoner argues for realizing all measures as quickly as possible.
