Huge bad luck for the residents of the house on Taxandrialaan in Budel where a fire broke out on Tuesday night. The house was destroyed inside and the neighbors’ houses were also damaged. To make matters worse, the residents had planned a very special day this Wednesday. “My son is getting married today,” says resident Mia, as she hurriedly looks for new party clothes.
The fire broke out in the house around half past two in the morning. The residents were sleeping at the time. “My daughter suddenly heard the fire alarm go off and shouted for us to get out of the house,” says Mia Desar. She ran outside and just managed to grab her coat from the coat rack. “I literally had nothing else. I was even barefoot,” she says.
The fire spread quickly. The flames soon spread out the back of the house. Firefighters had to break a window and saw open a garage door to get to the fire. Mia, her husband Ceraar and their daughter were checked by ambulance personnel and were not injured.
“I’m wearing my son’s clothes now.”
“It’s just unbelievable,” says Mia. They went to their son, who lives nearby, at night. There the family was able to shower and recover a little from the shock. This Wednesday they have to take full action again, because a special day awaits the family. “My son is getting married today,” says Mia.

Because the wedding will go ahead, despite the intense fire. “Yes, why shouldn’t it continue? You can’t go back. It may not be as it should have been, but that’s the way it is.”
Because the family’s party clothes also went up in flames, shopping has to be done quickly on Wednesday. Mia is therefore in a clothing store in Budel, putting together an outfit. “I literally have nothing left. I’m wearing my son’s clothes now,” she says, pointing to the jeans she’s wearing. “But the wedding will go ahead.”
