Residents of the Kruisstraat in Eindhoven are the noise and the nuisance of ‘asobaken’, motorbikes and quads spit. They started the petition ‘Kruisstraat car -free’ and have already collected seven hundred signatures. “You are not sure your life if you cycle here.” The municipality says it is considering a position on the petition.

Seven hundred signatures is a lot, but not nearly enough, finds a representation of the residents who sit together in the community center on Trompstraat. They are the nuisance spit and the measures that have so far been taken to keep traffic under control do not work.

“You are not sure your life if you cycle here. They drive you from the socks. For children it is dangerous,” a middle -aged resident says to Studio040.

Residents are particularly annoyed by the people who gather in the evening on the Woenselse Markt and use Kruisstraat as a race track, purely to impress others. One resident says he has heard that it is people from outside Eindhoven, but whoever is then is not known.

Residents of three neighborhoods around the Kruisstraat (Hemelrijken, Gildebuurt, Woenselse Watermolen) participate in the petition. To collect even more signatures, this weekend will also be fermented in the vicinity of the Woenselse Markt. There is also lobbying in politics. Joan van de Laar, secretary of the neighborhood association: “We also want as many municipal councilors as possible to sign the petition.”

Down
Among the signatories are also many people who live on Veldmaarschalk Montgomerylaan. Since the traffic on Kruisstraat can no longer drive away via the Woenselse Markt, but only via the Gildelaan, the nuisance has exploded there, the residents say. A resident who wants to remain anonymous, tells how much she is bothered by it. “The noise is horrible. We can’t sit outside anymore. It really doesn’t have some evenings. It makes me so down …”

Until now, at least one councilor would have signed the petition. What the follow -up process is and what the position of the municipality is in this is not yet entirely clear. A plan will soon be presented from the entrepreneurial association to improve the situation in the neighborhood. But according to Joan van de Laar of the neighborhood association, that is independent of this petition.

The municipality is still considering a position, following the petition, a spokesperson told Studio040.
