‘Residents are entitled to planning Eelde and Zuidlaren center development’

Zuidlaren and Eelde are waiting for a concrete plan for the center. There is no planning yet, much to the chagrin of CDA councilor Henk Middendorp.

The councilor is gradually demanding clarity from the municipality of Tynaarlo. “Because these plans have been going on for a long time. This college has been underway for a year now, so clear planning shouldn’t be a problem, I think.”

Especially in Zuidlaren, Middendorp believes that the development of a concrete plan takes a long time. “We are moving from participation to participation,” he notes. “The municipality wants to do very well and that is of course good on the one hand, but on the other hand you also have to deliver something in the long run. Participation eventually ends. There are also many moments when residents can voice their opinion. By submitting views and submitting objections, for example.”

Alderman Jurryt Vellinga (Leefbaar Tynaarlo) thinks it is best to come up with a plan soon. “I also understand that need. People want to know what will happen and what the plan is, and they are entitled to it. But we cannot break iron with our hands.”

With this, the alderman just wants to indicate that the development of both centers takes a lot of time and energy. “In addition, Zuidlaren is slightly further than Eelde. A clear direction has already been indicated there as to what we want with the center and in addition, we own the Prins Bernardhoeve site. In Eelde, that is more complex.” In April, the Drenthe provincial council allocated another million euros to make the center of Zuidlaren more attractive and more compact.

According to Vellinga, it is not the case that the development of one center can only start once the other center has been completed. “The processes run parallel to each other and don’t have to wait for each other. It’s also not the case that we don’t have enough manpower because we’re working in two places at the same time.”
