A PostNL mail deliverer was dismissed after he withheld Post in the Blixembosch district in Eindhoven for weeks. Residents rang the bell several times because they missed Post, but that didn’t help. Until on Monday a letter suddenly fell on the mat, from PostNL itself. Residents finally received an explanation for the missing mail.
“It has been like that for at least three weeks,” says resident Heleen van Haaren, who walks to her front door again on Monday to see if there are letters on the mat. “No letters, no packages, nothing at all.”
Through the Facebook group of the neighborhood, people found out that they all had the same problem. “Several people have complained to PostNL. The only thing you hear is that the postcode area is being investigated, nothing else.”
Residents received various reports via the PostNL app. “At first it said that the mail would come later. Then it said that it was worried, but there was nothing at all. Then you feel a bit cheated.”
In addition to nice packages, such as birthday cards, Van Haaren is especially concerned important mail to miss out. “I am waiting for a letter from the hospital. They clearly said that it will be sent via letterbox post and not digitally. I am on a waiting list and hope to be helped as quickly as possible. I am afraid I will miss that.”

But if Heleen tells her story to a Brabant reporter Omroep on Monday, a postman suddenly appears on the sidewalk. And then the reason for the missing mail finally becomes clear. “I have a hurry to deliver mail from recent weeks,” says the mail deliverer, while he almost runs through the street. “The other postman has left everything at home so now I’m Pineut.”
If residents finally get something after almost four weeks, they also find a letter from PostNL. It states that post has been found that should have been delivered for a long time. “There is mail that is intended for your address,” the company writes. “We did research that shows that the delivery person did not perform the process correctly and did not deliver all mail.”
The postman no longer works for PostNL. “Another delivery person has taken over the work,” the letter can be read. “We offer our sincere apologies.” According to a PostNL spokesperson, the withheld post will be delivered on Monday and Tuesday.
