Ajax drew 1-1 on Sunday in a practice match against Almere City. For the team from Amsterdam, those who were reserve on Saturday came into action in the lost battle for the Johan Cruijff Scale against PSV.
In the first half, Ajax took the lead through Brian Brobbey, who was given a lot of space and finished coolly. After the break, Almere City striker Joey Jacobs equalized with a hard header.
Summer acquisitions Calvin Bassey and Francisco Conceição, among others, participated at Ajax. Bassey, who was shown a red card against PSV on Saturday, made a mistake before half-time with a pass back that was too short. He was lucky that keeper Remko Pasveer saved on the subsequent effort by Tijmen Wildeboer.
Nineteen-year-old Conceição was close to scoring in the second half. The attacker, who was taken over from FC Porto, dribbled in and hit the outside of the post with a punt.
The practice match with Almere City was the last test of the preparation for Ajax. The team of trainer Alfred Schreuder, who watched the match in the Yanmar Stadium from the stands, will start the Eredivisie season on Saturday with a visit to Fortuna Sittard.
