Researchers create a salivary test to detect endometriosis

A team of French researchers has launched a salivary test for the detection of endometriosis, what can contribute to early detection of this disease, It affects 10% of women of childbearing age.

Currently it takes about eight years to diagnose endometriosis and, therefore, the longer detection is delayed, the symptoms – such as vaginal pain – worsen until they can lead to surgical intervention.

With this salivary method it is allowed avoid delay and the treatment is facilitated, as reported this Friday by the Ziwig company. Also, until now, its detection could even require an endoscopy, which made diagnosis difficult.

The test has a reliability close to 100%, even in the most complex forms of the disorder, and can “revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of the disease”, according to the company.
