Rescue operation at illegal gold mine ended, at least 78 dead: “Miners ate human flesh to survive”

The rescue operation in the illegal gold mine in South Africa has ended. According to police, all survivors have been rescued and all bodies recovered. Several hundred illegal miners were trapped for months in the abandoned mine in Stilfontein, about 150 kilometers southwest of Johannesburg. According to South African media, some of them have eaten human flesh out of sheer desperation to survive.
