FC Liverpool instead of FC Bayern: The change from Bayer Leverkusen’s super talent Florian Wirtz to the Premier League is perfect. The long-time Bundesliga manager Michael Reschke estimates the consequences of the record deal to RTL/NTV and Sport.de.
The 67-year-old, who also worked at FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen, described Florian Wirtz ‘Transfer to Liverpool as “understandable and an interesting decision”.
Reschke added: “I believe that Florian played a very big role that he wants to assert himself in the Premier League. This is still the strongest league in the world. And that it simply excites him to experience something new now and that at this level.”
The Wirtz change to the Anfield Road for allegedly up to 150 million euros ensures several records. Among other things, the 22-year-old is now the most expensive Bundesliga exit, the most expensive prime minister newcomer and the most expensive German footballer ever.
Is the mega sum a (to) height burden for Wirtz?
“The transfer fee is a bit absurd,” said Reschke. “But as I got to know and appreciate it, it is a boy who lives this game from the inside who, once he is on the pitch, does not make a record at all, whether he has cost a lot of transfer and for whom the competition is in the foreground. And therefore I am very, very sure that it can handle this pressure, even if it is immensely great for such a young person.”
In any case, Reschke doesn’t worry about Wirtz. “He is an exceptional player, now one of the best in the world,” emphasized the still well-networked Bundesliga insider. “He loves football so much and is so inspired to assert himself and assert himself that I think he will succeed very, very quickly.”
Bayer Leverkusen can “do interesting things”, but …
Bayer is suffering from the landlord on the island. “You cannot compensate for a departure like Florian,” said Reschke. “We are talking about one of the best players in the world. You can certainly do interesting things on the transfer market with the income that you are now generating. But we will no longer see an exceptional player like Florian Wirtz in Leverkusen in the next few years.”
FC Bayern is canceling from Florian Wirtz “Woe”
In addition to Liverpool, FC Bayern and above all honorary President Uli Hoeneß also tried intensively around Wirtz – ultimately in vain. “Bayern Munich and Uli Hoeneß hurts. However, less in the form of a personal defeat than that you would have been incredibly welcome if you had had the player in your own ranks,” said Reschke at RTL/NTV and Sport.de. “The fact that Uli has tried so extremely shows his extraordinary appreciation for Florian Wirtz.”

Reschke said: “It was the duty of FC Bayern to do everything possible to commit Florian Wirtz – the best German player together with Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich.”
