Meeting between players and audience
Philipp Cahrpit presents his performance this Friday Bodies of water in the Grand Theater of Groningen. This theatrical encounter between performers and audience focuses on playfully building bridges between individuals, others and the environment. The performance moves between collective and individual experiences, between dryness and humidity, between theatrical images and the here and now. Together with the audience, two performers and a musician investigate how our individual body can merge with a deeper, collective body.
Cahrpit reflects: “Last summer when I met a group of people, where we played on the border of land and water and I had tears of happiness in my eyes, I thought: this is what life is all about. Don’t we have just as much need for this playful bonding as we do for drinking water? While playing together on the beach, I forgot about myself and became part of a collective. I let go of my ‘I’ and, as it were, overflowed into the other.”

Vocal Ensemble Leeuwarden with A Capelli | Advertisement
Vocal Ensemble Leeuwarden and the jubilating vocal ensemble A Capelli join forces to create the Requiem of Duruflé to bring to life. This impressive work reflects mourning and consolation. Duruflé has kept the ancient Requiem faithful to the Gregorian original, but at the same time created an unmistakably modern sound, making it sound like a personal story.
The performance will be accompanied by organ and a small orchestra. In addition to this work, both choirs will also perform works from their own repertoire, including pieces by Poulenc, Gesualdo and Villette. Each of these works has its own beautiful sound world and sometimes contains daring elements. It promises to be an evening full of beautiful music and emotional depth. The concert will take place on Saturday 17 June in the Nieuwe Kerk in Groningen, on Sunday 18 June also in the Koepeltheater in Leeuwarden.
