Marius Borg Høiby’s request to convert his pre-trial detention into house arrest with an ankle monitor has been rejected by the court in Oslo. This is reported by Norwegian news agency NTB.
The son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit submitted a request to the court at the end of April. He wanted to serve his pre-trial detention at the royal estate of Skaugum with an ankle bracelet. The judge ruled on Wednesday that the risk of repetition of criminal offenses has not been reduced. Therefore, Høiby must continue to serve his pre-trial detention in prison.
In court, Høiby said, according to the Norwegian News Agency, that illness makes it more difficult for someone in his immediate family to visit prison. According to Høiby, the air quality in the prison is poor. Although he did not mention his mother’s name, NTB assumes that he is referring to Mette-Marit. The Norwegian Crown Princess has pulmonary fibrosis and is awaiting a possible lung transplant.
