Reports: PSG start 2nd attempt at Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar

Most valuable with contract expiring in 2023

With captain Marquinhos (28), Sergio Ramos (36) and Presnel Kimpembe (27), PSG coach Christophe Galtier has only three seasoned central defenders available this season, with talent El Chadaille Bitshiabu (17) taking fourth place in the squad. With Kimpembe out until the end of October, it is particularly difficult to bear in mind that Inter Milan’s summer efforts to sign Milan Skriniar were unsuccessful. According to the newspapers “L’Equipe” and “Le ParisienParis Saint-Germain would like to make a second attempt in the January transfer window to convince the Nerazzurri to sell the 27-year-old.

Inter should have much more pressure to accept an offer from Paris for Skriniar. The Slovakian international’s contract expires in 2023 and the parties have not yet been able to agree on an extension. Another meeting is scheduled to take place this week between Skriniar’s management and Inter bosses Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio. The Lombards should be ready to submit the maximum possible offer in times of financial problems of the owner company Suning from China. In the Italian media there is talk of up to 6.5 million euros net – Skriniar is said to want a million euros more.

The player wants to stay at a worse club for less money and we let it all end in a sporting and financial disaster. I only know that from Inter. You still have to have enough common sense not to let something like this happen, although everything that has been said so far speaks against it. You have to clarify at the time of a possible sale whether the player’s salary expectations are realistic and not for half a season of catastrophic defense …

When it was actually almost certain about the extension last May, the offer was reportedly still 5 million euros. However, the deal didn’t go through and PSG’s interest surfaced. The French champions were willing to transfer up to €60m in fee including bonuses to Inter. The Italians declined, speculating on 70 million to 80 million euros. In January, with only six months left on the contract, PSG’s willingness to spend a lot of money is likely to be significantly lower. The French media write of a maximum of 30 million euros, half of the sum that was discussed in the summer.

With a market value of 65 million euros, Skriniar, who has not yet been able to repeat the top form of the past two years this season, is the most valuable player with a contract expiring in 2023.
