With his hits, Andrej Ilic played a significant part in the fact that Union Berlin was able to distance himself significantly from the relegation places in the end of the season. According to a “picture” report, the 25-year-old attacker, who is loaned by the OSC Lille, remains with the Köpenickers even beyond the summer. A purchase option of 4 million euros is therefore integrated into the loan, which is to be activated by the Köpenickers.

Ilic came to the capital from the OSC Lille shortly before the end of the summer transfer window, but his team lacked almost the entire first half of the season due to an injury. In the second half of the season, the Serb turned up under Steffen Baumgart and scored seven goals in the Bundesliga – only Benedict Hollerbach was more successful. Under St. Pauli and VfL Bochum, Union presented the worst attack in the Bundesliga with 35 goals – Ilic was able to cheer every 135 minutes.

A lot could happen on the offensive of the Köpenickers in summer. Hollerbach could leave the club, since he will be courted by Borussia Mönchengladbach and Mainz 05. Ivan Prtajin is also considered a candidate for departure, while Kevin Volland leaves the Berliner towards home to 1860 Munich. Oliver Burke von Werder Bremen reinforces the attack free of charge. According to the report, Ilic should sign a four -year contract.
