Report – Record champions interested in Leipzig’s Nkunku

Just last summer, FC Bayern had recruited two top performers and the star coach from Saxony. Now the next player could apparently follow.

42.5 million euros for Dayot Upamecano, then the million transfer fee for coach Julian Nagelsmann, then another 15 million for midfielder Marcel Sabitzer – RB Leipzig was a supplier of real top-class players for FC Bayern Munich three times last summer. And now, just a few months later, the German record champions are said to have their sights set on the next star in Saxony.

As “Sport1” reports, Bayern are apparently interested in RB striker Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman is playing an outstanding season for Leipzig, has 26 goals and 15 assists in 39 games in 2021/22 – it’s hard to imagine where the Saxons would be without their attacker.

According to this, Nkunku should be a transfer target for Bayern, especially if there is no agreement and an extension of the current contract with national player Serge Gnabry (contract until 2023). In this case, the proceeds from a Gnabry sale could be used to pay for Nkunku this summer – which would probably amount to around 70 million euros.

Negotiations with Gnabry are currently stalling, the 26-year-old is said to be dissatisfied with his situation at Bayern (read more about this here). Is this the next giant transfer between Munich and Leipzig?
