Applause, cheers and waving flags on the side of the road: the farmers’ journey to Brussels yesterday seemed more like a happy entrance than a demonstration. Our reporter rode with farmer Jessie (38)’s tractor – six hours at a snail’s pace – and got no middle fingers, just thumbs up. “Look, those people are honking along. How magnificent is this!”
