After 30 years of relationship: Pep Guardiola’s marriage is over

Apparently, Pep Guardiola’s sporting crisis is now also accompanied by a personal setback. According to media reports, he and his wife are said to have separated.
In terms of sport, things are currently not going well for Pep Guardiola at his club Manchester City. The team only ranks sixth in the English Premier League – far too low for the reigning champions’ demands. Now there will probably be a personal setback for Guardiola. As Spanish and English media report, the master trainer and his wife Cristina have recently gone their separate ways. This is reported by, among others, the Spanish newspapers “El País”, “Mundo Deportivo” and “El Periodico”.
Accordingly, the 53-year-old and his long-term partner have not been a couple since the end of last year. “El País” refers to sources close to Guardiola.
The two got married in 2014, when Pep Guardiola was successful as coach of FC Bayern. The 52-year-old fashion entrepreneur and the Catalan coaching star met in 1994, when Guardiola was still a footballer for FC Barcelona. The relationship lasted a total of 30 years. The marriage has three children, Maria (24), Marius (22) and Valentina (17).
As “El Periodico” reported, the two are said not to have broken up in an argument. It was only in December that the Guardiolas were seen together at a theater in Barcelona. “El País” also writes that the couple parted on good terms and that the family spent Christmas together.
With regard to squad planning, however, the city coach could soon report success. Accordingly, Eintracht Frankfurt’s top striker Omar Marmoush is said to be about to move to Manchester. According to the TV channel “Sky”, Eintracht is demanding 80 million euros for the player. Apparently, according to various media sources, Manchester City and the Egyptians have already reached an agreement and the clubs are also said to be close to an agreement.
Guardiola himself did not want to comment on this, nor on the rumors about his marriage: “It’s very simple,” he said. “No comment”.
