Report: Hertha keeper Lotka before switching to BVB – Bundesliga debut

Planned for the third division team

Goalkeeper Marcel Lotka from Hertha BSC changes according to information from “table football‘ to Borussia Dortmund next season. At BVB, the 20-year-old will play for the second team in the 3rd division. Lotka celebrated his Bundesliga debut for the Berliners on Saturday and made a good impression in the 3-0 loss in Freiburg despite the clear defeat. His contract with the capital club expires after the season, so he will leave on a free transfer. According to reports, Lotka is signing a two-year contract with the reserves of the black and yellow.

In Berlin, Lotka is actually only goalkeeper number five behind Alexander Schwolow, Oliver Christensen, Rune Jarstein and Nils-Jonathan Körber and has so far played for the regional league team (eleven games). However, since all four other goalkeepers were ill, injured or still in rehab, the Polish junior international made his debut in the German football league. Coach Tayfun Korkut then praised him as a “ray of hope”.

The native of Duisburg is thus drawn back closer to his hometown. Previous stations had taken him to Schalke 04, Rot-Weiss Essen and Bayer Leverkusen in his youth. At BVB II he will fight for the place between the posts with Luca Unbehaun, who recently extended his working papers until 2023. Before that, however, he has good prospects of remaining in goal at Hertha BSC until the end of the season. As the “image“ Korkut currently sees no reason to return to Schwolow if Lotka continues to impress in training.
