The financially troubled FC Barcelona is working meticulously on further reinforcements. As The Athletic correspondent David Ornstein reported, the Catalans are close to an agreement with Arsenal on a loan for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the rest of the season. Although a conclusion of the negotiations could not yet be announced, there had been clear progress in the talks between all three parties.
The biggest obstacle and the most important question to be clarified is reportedly taking over the salary of offensive veteran Aubameyang, who collects around 350,000 pounds (around 420,000 euros) per week. It is not yet clear how much of the salary FC Barcelona can and should pay.
Aubameyang in 2nd place: Arsenal FC’s most expensive arrivals
14 Aaron Ramsdale | 21/22 for €28m from Sheffield United
According to the report, however, it can be assumed that no rental fee will be due, but that the Catalans will instead have to pay as much of Aubameyang’s salary as possible. According to the current status, a purchase option or even an obligation will probably not be part of the deal. Coach Xavi identified the Gabonese, who no longer plays a role at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, as the primary target for attack, the former BVB professional should help as a center forward (“nine”). And Arsenal would let their player and ex-captain go even without a direct replacement, it is reported.
FC Barcelona upgrades: Aubameyang should storm alongside Traoré
In addition to Barça, Juventus Turin is also dealing with the 32-year-old Aubameyang, it is said. Álvaro Morata (29), the last candidate to leave the club, will obviously stay with the Bianconeri and therefore not create any space for a new attacker. Aubameyang was recently linked with a move to the Saudi Arabian Saudi Professional League. In London, the former 63.75 million euro purchase is under contract until 2023. FC Barcelona announced emergency aid for the offensive on Saturday with the return of Adama Traoré (26, Wolves).
