Report: BVB plans 2024 without Marius Wolf – contract expires

Winter transfer excluded

The full-back positions have been a construction site at Borussia Dortmund for years. This season too, no clear regular duo has emerged from the trio of Julian Ryerson (26), Ramy Bensebaini (28) and Marius Wolf (28); most recently, Niklas Süle (28) also held the position at the back right. Already now, according to “Sky“The decision has been made to make a personnel change for the coming season.

Wolf’s expiring contract should therefore not be extended. The right-footed player came to the black and yellow from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2018 and, after teething problems and two loans to Hertha BSC and 1.FC Köln, established himself at BVB over the last two seasons. He was also nominated for the national team in March and June, but was recently no longer part of the DFB squad.

BVB also seems to no longer be satisfied with Wolf’s performance; according to the TV station, an extension is no longer an issue. Discussions about this should actually have taken place at the beginning of the year, but were initially postponed due to heart surgery in 2022. “A lot has happened for me personally in the last year. That’s why I haven’t dealt with this topic yet,” Wolf said in August.

Now the 28-year-old’s services no longer seem to be wanted at BVB, but a change in the winter is ruled out. According to “Sky” reporter Patrick Berger, the move to Saudi Arabia or Qatar could become an issue in the summer of 2024. In the YouTube program “At Broski – The Sport Show” in August, Wolf admitted: “If I could earn 100 million euros in two years, I would probably move to Saudi Arabia.” With a market value of 8 million euros, the right-footed player is one of the five most valuable Bundesliga professionals with a contract expiring in 2024.
