Repeated freak out: Draymond Green suspended indefinitely by the NBA

As of: December 14, 2023 8:45 a.m

Draymond Green from the Golden State Warriors has once again lived up to his reputation as the NBA’s “bad boy” – and is now apparently getting paid.

The 33-year-old forward was suspended indefinitely by the league on Wednesday (December 13, 2023, local time) after he hit opponent Jusuf Nurkic from the Phoenix Suns in the face the day before.

Second suspension this season

It is Green’s second suspension this season. In total, it was the 18th time he was sent off during a game. In November he put Rudy Gobert in a headlock in the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and then had to sit out five games. Apparently that didn’t have much of an effect either.

Even back then, Green was considered a repeat offender. The professional said after the game that he… “not acted with intent” wants. However, the TV images raise considerable doubts about this. And the NBA also reacted. “Green now has to meet certain league and team criteria before he can play again.”said an NBA spokesman.

Talks between NBA and the Warriors

Now there are said to be talks between the NBA and the Warriors to resolve the situation. According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), the NBA did not want to specify the length of the suspension in order to give Green the opportunity to carefully deal with his problems.

In any case, it will be expensive for the perpetrator. According to ESPN, Draymond Green misses out on around $154,000 in salary for every game he misses. That total rises to nearly $203,000 if the suspension is for more than 20 games.
