According to Evert Santegoeds and Johan Derksen, it is clear that talk show host Renze Klamer no longer feels at home at RTL. “His management will already be talking to another party.”

Until not so long ago, Renze Klamer was the wonder boy from RTL, but how quickly can the tide turn: currently the 36-year-old presenter is nothing more than the face of one of the biggest talk show flops ever: RTL Tonight. The figures are sad and Renze is dragged into the misery: he had a weak interview with Henri Bontenbal on Sunday.

‘There was a fight’

How does Johan Derksen view it? “I had the impression that Renze hated it. He was grumpy, he was not motivated. There had been an argument about it somewhere,” he responds in Today Inside.

Wilfred Genee: “They are just in a kind of construction site. Now they have suddenly put people behind it again (the cattle are now behind the presenter and the interpreters, ed.), then they have done something different. The setting is being changed again. That boy also thinks: what happens here all the time?”

‘So what?’

According to Wilfred, it is not Renze’s fault. “Just to defend Renze, because people are suddenly saying that his career is at risk, but what nonsense! That guy is just a very good presenter. Then you are in a different format for a while, so what?”

Johan: “That is the best presenter they have. They really have to please them and they have to listen to which direction Renze wants to go, because he can help them.”

Emergency intervention

However, private boss Evert Santegoeds thinks that Renze must take action quickly. Klapvee will not save him, he says in the podcast Strictly Private. “You would say that this will be the last emergency measure, because things are really not getting better. Renze has also not been able to turn the ship around.”

Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden then: “And I can just tell from him – I was listening to him yesterday – that he just doesn’t feel like it anymore.”

Evert: “Well, I can imagine that, to be honest.”

Other party

Evert has a strong idea that Renze is secretly working on an RTL exit. “When you are busy and it is decided from above that everything has to be different and this comes out, you think: this is it as far as I am concerned. There must be some things going on behind the scenes with the management of Renze and another party, I hope.”

Jordi: “I think BnnVara. Last week the rumor went around: couldn’t he be a good replacement for Jeroen Pauw?”

Evert: “Yes, I think so.”

RTL face

Jordi would think that is a strong option. “That would just fit perfectly, wouldn’t it?”

Evert: “And to say that he is an RTL face? No. Most people have already forgotten that he was ever seen there.”

Jordi: “Maybe that will happen next week, because with these viewing figures, 295 thousand, I don’t think you will make it?”

Evert: “You’re not going to make it. It’s an expensive program and that’s because of all those experts they brought in from everywhere and that big studio. No, this is doomed, of course. Everyone knows that, but no one dares to tell the patient.”

Sour apple

Jordi does not understand RTL boss Peter van der Vorst. “But what is that? At a certain point you no longer have advertisers, it seems to me, and money has to be made. It is a commercial channel. I still wonder at what point they want to pull the plug, but hey, they continue to fester.”

Evert concludes: “Yes, let’s face it. Let’s face it!”
