Renée becomes world famous with singer Ed Sheeran: ‘A dream comes true’

24-year-old Renée Schuurmans from Den Bosch has made a video clip for Ed Sheeran. The world-famous British singer asked fans to make video clips for the songs from his latest album Autumn Variations. Fourteen people from fourteen different countries were chosen from the thousands of entries, including Schuurmans’ clip. “It’s nice that the clip is being viewed well, but it was even more fun to make and special that Ed is watching it.”

Reneé made the video clip on her iPad in one month. “After the call in September, I put my ideas on paper, drew them out and sent them. At the end of October I heard the good news. In November I locked myself at home for last Sunday’s deadline. It was: sleep, eat and make animations. ”

The clip came online on Wednesday and was viewed more than 80,000 times in one day. The reactions Reneé receives to her video clip can no longer be counted. “They are super sweet and come from all sides, I really never expected that.”

“Ed has been a great inspiration to me.”

Schuurmans, who trained as a visual arts and design teacher, has been a fan of Ed Sheeran since 2011 when his debut album was released. “That’s pretty much half my life. He’s been a great inspiration to me and this is a dream come true.”

She made the video for the song Blue, which is about a friendship that passes. It is a song that Reneé feels connected to through her own experiences. “It allowed me to empathize with the text on a deeper level.”

“It feels good to receive so much recognition.”

Not only has the artist from Den Bosch received many responses, a number of colleagues have also given nice substantive responses. “I had never made such a long animation before. It feels good to receive so much recognition.”

Reneé is becoming a little bit famous thanks to Ed Sheeran’s clip and she can laugh about it. “To earn money, I work in the catering industry at the Theater aan de Parade in Den Bosch. But to get my career as an artist going, I recently started as a self-employed person. In any case, the clip is good for my portfolio .”
