Remko Parsveer’s national team career started off brilliantly

Louis van Gaal relies on experience.

Remko Pasveer has a good shot at getting into the MM machine. PDO

Life is good For Remko Pasveer. The second oldest goalkeeper in the history of the Dutch national team is on the rise Louis van Gaal as the first choice for the goalkeeper of the World Cup team.

Pasveer got his chance in the Nations League match against Poland and made a stop Robert Lewandowski and partners in a 2–0 win. It was the debut of the 38-year-old man at the adult national team level. On Sunday night, the veteran defender nullified Belgium’s attacking power in a match that was decided Virgil van Dijk’s to score 1–0.

A huge rise

Parsveer arrived at Ajax as a three-man goalkeeper last year, but André Onanan suspension and by Maarten Stekelenburg the injury provided a seam for real action.

The race for the position of the national team’s number one defender is open, but Jesper Cillessen and Justin Bijlow seem to have fallen into reserve positions in it.

At least that’s the opinion Rafael van der Vaart.

– He (Parsveer) is not afraid. He radiates calmness and it shows in the defenders. Besides, he is good with his feet and has shown it in an important game. Why wouldn’t he start in the World Cup? the outspoken ex-footballer said.

Tim Krul was previously dropped from the bills, because he did not agree to participate in the penalty kick drills using the new technology engineered by van Gaal.
