Remarkable find in Beilen: American grenades and other explosives in the Linthorsthoman Canal and harbour

During dredging work in the Linthorst Homan Canal and the port in Beilen, six explosives from the Second World War were found on Thursday. These are partly American grenades, the origin of the other explosives is still being determined.

The explosives have been transported and are no longer present in the municipality of Midden-Drenthe. They are disabled by experts.

Because the explosives are no longer present, there is no immediate danger to the environment. The dredging work was immediately halted.
