“That is very fragile material,” says curator Els Veraverbeke of the Municipal Museums of Ypres. “Paper is very sensitive to light, dust, changing climate conditions and that is of course what happens during such works. That is why we are moving that gigantic collection. And it is really gigantic, the masses are impressive.”
“It concerns more than 500 linear meters of books,” says Veraverbeke; “That’s about 25,000 titles, but also more than 200 meters of documentary collections.”
