Relief at FC Emmen: Injury Güçlü is not that bad

FOOTBALL – The attacker’s screams and tears suggested the worst, but the damage Metehan Güçlü sustained to his knee during a roundabout yesterday turned out to be not too bad. Investigation showed that nothing is broken. However, a tendon has been pulled, which means that the Turkish-French striker will have to miss the FC Emmen game against VVV tomorrow.

It is still unclear when Güçlü will be available again, but according to the latest reports, that could be within two weeks. Güçlü himself is especially relieved and is looking forward to making minutes again in the main squad of the current leader in the Kitchen Champion Division. “It was a huge shock, but luckily it’s not that bad,” said the number 9 of the Drenthe club.

Fieldmate and Romeny question mark

It is not yet known whether Jeroen Veldmate and Ole Romeny can be used tomorrow in Venlo, where FC Emmen will kick off at 4.30 pm. Romeny is struggling with a sore ankle and Veldmate has been sick (flu) at home the past few days. Tomorrow it will become clear whether one of them (or both of course) can be deployed. If that is not the case, Peter van Ooijen will most likely take the place next to Reda Kharchouch in the front and Arnaud Luzayadio will start as right back, allowing Keziah Veendorp to move on to the center of the defence.

An extensive preview on VVV – FC Emme, including interviews with Michael Brouwer, Oussama El Azzouzi and top scorer Rui Mendes, will be on this site later tonight.
