Genoa can no longer leave the relegation zone on the last day of Serie A and has to return to second division for the first time in 15 seasons. A catastrophic first series took revenge, the mistakes and missed opportunities this season, including three changes of coach.

Born in Stuttgart, Blessin came from KV Oostende in Belgium in January. The team improved significantly under the 48-year-old and sparked new euphoria in the port city. Last weekend Genoa beat Juventus Turin 2-1 in added time and could hope for rescue – in the end in vain.
