Defeating Talleres 1-0 in the Argentine Cup final, Atletico Patronato achieved the most important success in the club’s history as champion.
The surprise team of the tournament, Atletico Patronato, and Talleres faced off in the final match of the organization, which was held for the 62nd time this year, at the Malvinas Argentinas Stadium in Mendoza.
The first half of the match ended goalless, Atletico Patronato won 1-0 with Tiago Banega shaking the nets in the 78th minute and reached the cup.
By eliminating River Plate in the quarter-finals of the tournament and Boca Juniors in the semi-finals, Atletico Patronato achieved the most important success in the club’s history and became the owner of the cup for the first time.
Relegated to the league, which ended with the championship of Boca Juniors last week, Atletico Patronato won the right to participate in the 2023 Libertadores Cup from the group stage and to reach the final of the 2022 Argentine Super Cup with this success.
