In Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, carsharing cars block parking spaces for residents. The district must therefore react, says BZ editor Stefan Peter in his comment.
Car sharing, i.e. the sharing of vehicles, is a popular and affordable alternative to owning a car in big cities. Simply look for a free vehicle in the app, rent it with a click and park it at your destination. But in Friedrichshain things got completely out of hand.
Dozens of car-sharing vehicles from several providers are blocking the parking spaces near Ostbahnhof. They were probably placed there by the companies (and not by the customers), because they cannot be booked in the app.
But if companies think they could use public street land as a company car park, politicians have to take action. The inactivity of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office is surprising – they are otherwise full of ideas when it comes to the fight against the car …
