The relay women did not start on doctor’s advice during the final of the 4×100 meter substitution at the World Cup in Singapore. Earlier this World Cup, Marrit Steenbergen from Eindhoven and Sam van Nunen from Veghel still won bronze with the relay women.

According to a spokesperson for the KNZB, the doctor’s advice had to do with the entire team, but it is not clear who is wrong. “They could no longer prepare a representative team and were therefore not started.”

There are six women to Singapore and four of them should have swimming during the 4×100 meters of switch. “And then also on their ‘own’ distances. Apparently that puzzle could not be laid,” said the spokesperson. According to him, the options were limited, since they still wanted to save Milou van Wijk for the 50 -meter free final on Sunday afternoon.

Marrit Steenbergen still got gold on Friday in the 100 meter freestyle, but no longer has to take an individual action today. She dropped out on Saturday after the semi -finals of the 50 meters free.

A week ago the Brabant women Marrit Steenbergen and Sam van Nunen, together with teammates Tessa Giele and Milou van Wijk, made bronze on the 4×100 meter freestyle.
