“What a proud moment. Reinout is officially installed as honorary consul. He was sworn in by Consul General Dirk Janssen and all in our own backyard,” said Danielle, who shared a number of photos of the ceremony.
In March it was announced that Oerlemans had been asked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this volunteer position. The television producer will offer its help to people in the business world, but also to Dutch people who have run into problems, for example, due to hospitalization, missing persons or death. In total, there are almost 300 honorary consuls active around the world.
“I am honored to represent the Dutch government here in Los Angeles and to connect the Netherlands, where I was born, with Los Angeles, the place I call my home,” Oerlemans said at the time.
