Reinier van Arkel patient files also captured in a hack

Data from the files of 184 clients of mental health organizations Reinier van Arkel and Ypse in Den Bosch were captured in the major hack of healthcare files earlier this week. The healthcare institution confirms this on their website. All clients concerned have been informed by the institution. It is not known exactly what kind of data is involved.

The theft of data happened at Carenzorgt, a client portal. About 9,000 healthcare organizations in the Netherlands use this to share digital medical records and personal data. Nedap, the developer of that program, has reported the hack and has since closed the information leak, says Reinier van Arkel.

“Because the privacy of client data is at stake, which we deeply regret, we find it of the utmost importance to inform the clients concerned about this as soon as possible,” Reinier van Arkel reports on their website. All clients whose data has been leaked have already received an email about this a few days ago. People who have not received an email can assume that their personal data has not been leaked.

Nationally, thousands of organizations use Carenzorgt. Earlier this week it was announced that documents containing personal data had also been stolen from healthcare institution Het Laar in Tilburg. It is not known how many injured clients are involved. In total, approximately 250,000 clients use Carenzorgt.
