Regilio Tuur deliberately disappeared from the media eight years ago, after his participation in the SBS 6 show Sterren Jumpen. “I specialized in technology,” he says. “Google, Instagram.”
Regilio Tuur was once active as a boxer, but he is now 54 years old and we haven’t heard from him for a long time. His last major media appearance was his participation in the SBS 6 show Sterren Jumpen in 2014. In which Dutch celebrities jumped off a diving board every week and that was a great viewing success.

Regilio was under considerable fire during his participation in the Dutch celebrity show, because he suddenly only wanted to speak in English. After moving to New York, he spontaneously forgot how to speak Dutch. The viewers were especially excited about that affectation, because his English is so bad.
What about his Dutch these days? He tells in Veronica Superguide: “I still understand it perfectly, but my first language is English. My father spoke English, I think in English, I dream in English. I haven’t spoken Dutch in 25 years; I see no reason to start again.”

Why did Regilio disappear from the media after Star Jumping? “The younger generation is less aware of who I am, because I have deliberately stayed out of the media for the past eight years. At the time, I was in a phase of my life where I had started educating myself in technology.”
What should we imagine? “Google, Instagram: it all passed me by. Not possible for a person of my caliber. It made me feel like I was irrelevant, a dinosaur. I didn’t want to be like that.”

Regilio now knows exactly how Google works. “I have become a new person specializing in how technology can help make the world a healthier place. I will roll out that in the coming years, including in a TV show that I am currently working on.”
Regilio, who ended up in jail in 2003 because of the abuse of his girlfriend, so wants to go back on television. Who is going to help him with that? “Soon I will talk about it with Johnny de Mol, a friend of mine. And after that, the rest of the Netherlands will hear about it soon.”
