At the 2022 European Championships in Hungary and Slovakia, Schulze/Tönnies have played in two preliminary and two main round games, including the controversial Balkan derby between Croatia and Serbia. Their performance was so convincing that the European Handball Federation (EHF) nominated Schulze and Tönnies for the European Championship final on Sunday at 6 p.m. (live ticker on sportschau.de).
“The European Championship is the strongest tournament in the world in terms of handball, as every game is hard-fought and all teams are at a very good level,” said Robert Schulze of the sports show. “Then refereeing the final there will definitely be a great experience.”
Twelve year dry spell
The preparation is like any other game. “A light workout on Saturday and Sunday morning”, said Schulze. “Of course we watch the semi-finals on TV.” On Friday, Spain will play Denmark against Denmark (6 p.m.) and France against Sweden (8.30 p.m.) for the finalists – sportschau.de will show both games in the live stream.
