After a referee error, the game between Freiburg and Leverkusen in the women’s Bundesliga has to be replayed. The date is now fixed.

The controversial game between SC Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen in the women’s Bundesliga will be repeated on January 26th. The German Football Association (DFB) announced the new date on Friday. Kick-off is at 12 p.m. (MagentaSport/DAZN).

This was preceded by a week-long process. On Wednesday, the DFB Federal Court confirmed the opinion of the DFB sports court from October 15th that the encounter should be repeated.

The procedure was triggered by a penalty in the 88th minute. Leverkusen’s Kristin Kögel shot it over the goal in the first attempt. Referee Theresa Hug (Schramberg) ordered the penalty to be retaken because the Freiburg goalkeeper had moved away from the goal line before it was taken. According to the sports court’s first ruling, this decision, which led to the final score of 3-2, was wrong. Kögel converted in the second attempt.
