Red carpet and dresses goya 2023

The director Isabel Coixet, nominated in the category of ‘Best Documentary Film’ for ‘El sostre groc (The Yellow Roof)’, has arrived on the blue carpet with a protest message by opting for black pants and a jacket of the same color, with the words ‘Women, life, freedom’ (Woman, life, freedom) written on the back. On the jacket could also be seen a drawing in homage to Mahsa Amini, the young Iranian who died for not wearing her veil.

Asked about her attire, the director stated that “there are people who enjoy tuning – alluding to the party – but I never did”. “There is a moment when you say ‘how much pressure’ and I told the illustrator Elena Scilinguo: draw me Masha Amini’s face”, she recalled.

Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman, became a feminist symbol of the country after dying in police custody after being arrested for violating the Islamic dress code. Her death sparked a wave of protests both in Iran and internationally.

On the other hand, asked about the documentary for which she is nominated, the one that addresses sexual abuse, Coixet has defended that “cinema is for these things.” “It is not a tear-jerking documentary”, she has assured her.

Regarding the latest cases of harassment, he has asked for “sensitivity” and regretted that “all unions protect themselves.” “There is something that is said in the documentary that we are all against but when it comes to saying we ask the victims for things that we also hide and do not want to see. We are in a society in which in the end the victim is the aggressor and It’s a very screwed up mechanism. I understand that there are a lot of people who don’t want to talk”, he lamented.
