Red Bull continues to expand his sports portfolio: The Austrian energy drink manufacturer will take over the English rugby team Newcastle Falcons, the first division relegation will in future be called Newcastle Red Bulls.
It is the first takeover of a rugby club. The aim is to “enable the club to exploit its full competitive potential,” said Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff.
“The takeover of Newcastle by Red Bull is a milestone for our sport and a strong confirmation of our vision and strategy for the future of the Premiership (Prem),” said Prem managing director Simon Massie-Taylor and added that Red Bull’s “success record in global sport will not only be for Newcastle, but for the entire premium of enormous value”.
The Red Bull Group is already heavily involved in football, engine, cycling and winter sports.
