– This was the worst nightmare. I don’t remember the last time this would have happened.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was rightly disappointed on Sunday after the opening race of the F1 season. The race was a fiasco from the stable.

The team battled Ferrari for the top spot all weekend. Max Verstappen was in the Bahrain GP in the victory battle, but the car broke down a few laps before the checkered flag.

Stable friend Sergio Perez experienced the same fate in the last round. The result was zero points.

In both cars, the fault was caused by the fuel system.

– It seemed that there was no fuel in the engine. Everything went off. I rolled back to the depot, Verstappen commented For Motorsport.com.

Horner also believes the cause of the failure of both cars is a fuel supply failure. There was a snag in Honda’s tank.

Verstappen has previously suffered from steering problems. However, they felt like a small grief compared to the interruption.

Verstappen was nervous about the race. He frothed on team radio about, among other things, the depot visit strategy and the pace of the car.

– I’m not holding back. I say what I think. I wasn’t happy with our strategy, the balance of the car, and what we did.

The interruption, even with two cars, was a disaster for Red Bull.

Of the main competitors, Ferrari took a double win, with the Mercedes in third and fourth place.

– It is disappointing to lose so many points. The championship can be really tight until the end. That’s when those points are important, Verstappen said.

However, Horner sees light at the end of the tunnel.

– We have a very competitive car. We were not Charles Leclercin on the swing, but Max competed well with him. The season is long. Let’s get over this.
