The total of 10 million for Modeste could have been saved.
A few months ago, Moukoko wanted to renew for 6 million. Dortmund probably only offered 4.
BVB would have struck once.
Now it’s getting even more expensive. If he goes to the World Cup, then that’s it. Then Moukoko will play somewhere else next season.
would would have.
Who says that Moukoko would have worked immediately as a starter? Please don’t come up with “everybody knows”.
No, not everyone knows, especially since many from the BVB area just explained that a modest commitment just took some of the pressure off Moukoko.
Because it’s different when you come off the bench and then prove yourself than when you’re immediately the No. 1 striker and substitute for the 30 million striker Haller. This pressure is not made for everyone, especially since a Moukoko has also shown that he sometimes still had problems with that pressure.
This 6 million – 4 million salary story is just another fairy tale of the media that just wanted a headline. And again, with your contribution you are acting as if it is sooooo clear how Moukoko will develop or that he will get this form.
And then 6 million salary at that time was just in no relation to his performance, you don’t have to come months later with “yes it would have been if” xD
Yes, if I had guessed the correct lottery numbers, I would have been a millionaire.
I’m sorry if I now claim that I knew. The boy simply had values where you could also trust in the potential. Other players are committed everywhere for a lot of money because you are betting on future performance and not on what they have already done in the past.
If it gets expensive now or if you lose it, it’s simply your own fault. You really didn’t need clairvoyant abilities to anticipate this development (yes, there is always a risk).
It would also have been a form of confidence in his development, more so than that obligatory recent Bundesliga appearance of all time which was done FOR media hype and not to keep the ball low and take the pressure off the boy.
I still hope that there is something to the story that both sides are just waiting for Moukoko’s 18th birthday to sign a long-term contract. If that is not the case and you have avoided the risk of an early extension under the required conditions, then you now have much worse cards through your own fault.
Sorry if I seem grumpy now, but do you seriously think it would have made sense not to do anything more in the storm instead of BVB? The most expensive center forward accession in history (the only competitor for Moukoko) is out due to a severe illness and you get a good scorer in your mid-30s who knows the league as a security solution, what’s the reason for not trusting Moukoko now?
A discontinued model was brought in and please consider that we have already had the following offensive failures as a CL club this season; Reus, Haller, Adeyemi, Malen, Gittens, Reyna. Offensive only.
We always wanted to extend Moukoko and BVB is certainly not a sleepy club that reacts late when it comes to extension issues for talented players. Despite 3 competitions and the highest demands, we only got one Modeste (whom Terzic will field is another question…), let another storm jewel from youth go in the person of Fink, we let a solid backup like Tigges go, etc.
Not to forget that Moukoko himself missed about a good third of the season last year due to injuries.
If we hadn’t done anything, Moukoko got injured in the No. 3 starting eleven in 11 days and we’re without a striker, I can see how the whole of football Germany and all the media jump on the bandwagon again.
In the case of Moukoko’s extension, it is certainly not due to BVB’s will and of course there are also talents who have played more at that age, but how many of them were strikers, at top clubs and injured almost 1/6 or even 1/5 of the first two professional years?
If Moukoko leaves, then either to a smaller club with a secure regular place (which he can already have with us with his form) or for a fatter paycheck with possibly greater media reach and hype. But the relation of game practice to the strength of the league and the club.. where would it be as good as with the club he is already with?
