After a red card against PSG
Bayern’s appeal was successful: Díaz’s ban was shortened

The Colombian was actually sidelined for several games because of an overly harsh foul. But now Bayern can record a small victory.
Luis Díaz can take part in the Champions League again sooner than initially thought. After his red card in the game at Paris Saint-Germain, the FC Bayern attacker now only has to miss two games instead of three. UEFA decided this on Friday after an objection from the club.
This means the 28-year-old is only missing the home game against Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday. He can take part again in the next group game against Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21st.
Díaz was shown a red card for a foul on Achraf Hakimi in the 2-1 win in Paris on November 4th – after he had previously scored both goals for Bayern.
The club initially assumed that the Colombian would only miss one game. However, when UEFA imposed a three-game ban, the club appealed. Bayern sports director Max Eberl had little hope. “I’m not so naïve as to say that it will only be one game. If we got one less game, then that would be fantastic,” said the 52-year-old recently. In the end, the protest was successful.
