At the end of May, Elisabeth Seitz ended her gymnastics career. Now the focus is on a completely different role for the German record champions.

Former European gymnastics champion Elisabeth Seitz has become a mother for the first time. The 31-year-old announced on Instagram that she had given birth to a son. “Incredibly happy and totally in love with you. Welcome to the world, little man,” wrote the record champion and published several personal recordings.

In the first photo, Seitz is under a blanket with the newborn, then there is a picture with her partner Nils Heyden and the baby in her arms and another with the child’s foot in her hand.

Seitz surprisingly announced her withdrawal from top-class sport at the end of May – during the home European Championships in Leipzig. She was actually supposed to compete again there, but had to miss the event at short notice due to a shoulder injury. As part of her EM waiver, she announced that she was pregnant.

For years, Seitz was one of the figureheads of German gymnastics. During her active career, she reached seven finals at the Olympic Games, became European champion on the uneven bars and won bronze at the World Championships. With 26 titles at national championships, Seitz is still the most successful gymnast in Germany.

Last year she missed qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris in a duel with Helen Kevric (Stuttgart) after tearing her Achilles tendon in 2023. Without the Stuttgart player, the German team did not make it to Paris as a team at the World Championships in Antwerp. Last year’s European Championships in Rimini also took place without them.
