RECONSTRUCTION. That’s how things went at the negotiating table last night: De Croo and PS are tough about teachers’ pensions and securities tax | Budget

All night long, the French-speaking socialists threw themselves at the cutting edge of teachers’ pensions and set themselves up as the savior of the paper newspaper. But that was without counting a ‘power move’ by Prime Minister De Croo – who also deleted the extensive securities tax from the table. What followed was a nightly game of cat and mouse. As a result, there is almost no money left for new policy. With the clock ticking, De Croo will soon have to walk to parliament to get his State of the Union address this afternoon.
