Reception with applause: BVB newcomers start in preparation

During their first training session for the Bundesliga soccer club, Sebastien Haller (Amsterdam), Niklas Sle (Munich), Nico Schlotterbeck (Freiburg), Karim Adeyemi (Salzburg) and Salih zcan (Kln) were greeted with thunderous applause by around 1,500 spectators on Monday.

Following medical performance tests at the weekend, other stars such as Jude Bellingham, Julian Brandt, Thomas Meunier, Giovanni Reyna and Raphael Guerreiro also began working on the pitch. In the previous two weeks of preparation, returning coach Edin Terzic had only worked with a core squad.

The finishing touches for the coming season, in which Borussia Dortmund, who have been strengthened for a good 85 million euros so far, want to stand up to the series champions FC Bayern Munich, will take place in the training camp from July 15th to 23rd in Bad Ragaz. Before leaving, the runners-up will play a test match on Thursday (6:00 p.m.) at SC Verl.

Potential replacement candidates such as Manuel Akanji, Thorgan Hazard and Guerreiro were also part of the training group and are likely to travel to Switzerland on Friday without progress in contract talks. The greatest likelihood of farewell is with Akanji. The defender, who is contractually bound to BVB until the summer of 2023, was last associated with Inter Milan. A lucrative transfer of the Swiss national player could encourage the runners-up to make further purchases.

In XETRA trading, BVB shares temporarily fall by 1.96 percent to 3.61 euros.
