Stef Avezaat has been reappointed as a member of the Council for Culture. The Council of Ministers has decided this on the recommendation of Minister Eppo Bruins of Education, Culture and Science. The reappointment starts on May 1, 2025 for a period of 2 years.
Mr. Stef Avezaat has been a member of the Culture Council since 2021. He has a background as a maker, director, business leader and initiator in the world of theater, dance and audiovisual productions. In addition to his membership of the Council for Culture, he is currently artistic coordinator Programming Arcadia Fryslân 2025 and is a board member of Stichting 5ekwartier, who, among other things, produces the performance of land tests throughout the country. Until 2023 he was director/director of Schouwburg de Lawei in Drachten. He is also co -founder of the Youth Fund Culture Friesland, which has been transferred to the Youth & Culture Friesland Youth Fund. Mr. Avezaat studied social pedagogy at the University of Amsterdam.
The Council for Culture is the independent advisory body of the government and parliament in the field of art, heritage and media. In addition to Stef Avezaat, the Council consists of the following members: Kristel Baele (chairman), Danielle Arets, Deirdre Carasso, Nancy Joue, Wilbert Mutsaers, John Olivieira-Siere and Edo Righini.
